Time commitment: 4 days per week* 
Annual Salary: £30,000-£34,000 FTE depending on experience

Purpose of the Job
To oversee the creation and delivery of City to Sea’s campaigns to stop plastic pollution at source.

Scope of the job
Your job is to identify the best of our existing opportunities to stop plastic pollution at source. Using our network, our team, our supporters, our stakeholders and our reputation, your job is to make sure that City to Sea continues as a leading campaign organisation and is able to capitalise on the current media interest in plastic pollution.

You will work to create and manage campaigns that are playful, engaging, diverse, thought provoking and impactful in a focused and well-planned manner, making a measurable difference to prevent plastic pollution at source.

This position leads City to Sea’s Campaigns Team, managing a team of two and as the key figure in this team you will be the central contact for campaign enquiries from our networks and other plastic pollution coalition organisations, and spot opportunities to support third-party campaigns. A key part of the role will be to work closely with the Head of Marketing & Communications and the Founder to grow our existing campaigns, as well as identify, plan, resource and deliver new campaigns to meet City to Sea’s objectives. This will also involve developing successful and positive partnerships with kindred organisations, freelance designers, artists, schools and the media.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. 3+ years experience in the planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of online and offline campaigns, and an understanding of how grass-roots campaigning can create change.
  2. Strategic approach to campaigning, and experience using a wide range of campaigning tactics – including lobbying, direct action and creative campaigning.
  3. An excellent and effective communicator whose written and spoken English can persuade and motivate diverse audiences.
  4. Experience of using databases and digital tools to create online actions, mass mailings and engaging online content.
  5. Experience of using digital channels as a campaigning and supporter engagement tool.
  6. Experience of developing effective printed or digital resources for campaigning.
  7. Experience of managing campaign budgets.
  8. Experience of managing a team, ability to support and motivate colleagues as part of City to Sea’s collective management system.
  9. Demonstrable commitment to City to Sea’s aims and objectives.

*We support flexible working at City to Sea so would be happy to negotiate a contract extension to a five-day working week (full-time) if desired by the applicant.
